What makes Sudoku fun?
Sudoku helps organize your brain. Sudoku is a game of creating order. We solve a puzzle, with clear expectations and rules, which leads to a satisfying results. Confronted by clutter and chaos in our daily lives, Sudoku presents us with a single “solvable” problem that we can quietly think on and pick apart with our brains. It's a nice escape from the challenges of daily life – we can solve a puzzle, then point to it as proof of what we can achieve with our brain power.
A game of momentum. A fun aspect of playing Sudoku is that every single number that you place on the grid makes it easier to solve the rest of the puzzle – revealing itself the more you play along. After you get enough numbers placed on the grid, even if it’s slow at first, you reach a tipping point where the rest of the Sudoku puzzle will quickly start to fall into place. When you’re on a roll, Sudoku is a highly satisfying game.
It’s fun! Use that brain! It's the “brain game” that requires a variety of cognitive skills, such as quick decision making, spotting patterns, and applying logical reasoning. Sudoku is fun for many different types of people, because rewards different styles of thinking. Some people are more methodical, solving the puzzles, scrutinizing across the rows and columns for easily identifiable numbers to place, while other players use a more random approach, and scan the grid for possible solutions that my "pop up". No matter how your brain works best, you can apply your thinking skills to Sudoku.
